Community Foundation Grants
The Nehemiah Community Foundation (Foundation) provides grants to non-profit and faith-based agencies supporting the intellectual, spiritual, and economic growth of individuals and families. It encourages self-sufficiency and community restoration. The Foundation supports programs consistent with its mission. The giving interests and allocations of the Foundation in 2009 are below.

The Nehemiah Community Foundation makes general operating grants, program-specific grants, and “seed” grants to established non-profits that seek first-time support for new, innovative projects. The Foundation makes grants to projects consistent with its mission. The average grant range is $1,000 - $15,000. The Foundation will accept applications for grants that address the following program areas:
- Affordable Housing and Neighborhood Revitalization
- Job Training and Personal Development for Low and Moderate-Income Individuals
- Education and Arts
- Culturally Diverse Leadership Training
- Financial Education
In special cases, the Foundation may request grant applications from non-profit organizations working in other program areas that are consistent with the mission of the Foundation. All funded non-profit agencies must have a tax-exempt letter from the Internal Revenue Service.
Funding priority will be given to projects that:
- Provide measurable solutions to specific problems.
- Prevent duplication of local services by pursuing collaborative approaches with other non-profit organizations.
- Demonstrate committed, effective leadership and long-term management capacity.
